New Art on First Floor

Many thanks to the Art Committee for setting up and rearranging art work on the first floor.  Please take a look, some of the maps that were displaced in the renovation have been put back in order (along with the Head), and some new prints which are copies or our special collections holding are displayed in the Reading Room and Reference.  QR codes that link to descriptions are coming.  Thanks Kimberly, Kathelene, Nancy, Audrey, Carolyn and Kathy.

Music Library Upgrade

The Music Library is upgrading some features this summer including a rearrangement of the LP's stored in the lower level:

This involves some new shelving along the walls and the LP's are currently staged for placement.

This also includes a weeding project for the reference collection and these shelves will be turned to accommodate some new furniture over the next few weeks:

Summer Time at the Libraries

NCLA Leadership Institute

I speaking with someone yesteday, I realized that some of you who are not NCLA members might not have seen this.  The Call for Applications is out for the 2012 NCLA Leadership Institute.  More information is at this link:  http://www.nclaonline.org/professional-development/event/2012-ncla-leadership-institute-cultivating-and-inspiring-nc-library-l

If you are interested in applying just know that you will need to be a member of NCLA but can join now in order to apply and be considered.  The venue is close to us and this year is much more affordable that in the past.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

SPA rep to AAG

We are looking for a new SPA rep to set on the Administrative Advisory Group (AAG) meetings.  With the change in the staff senate election process being a senator is not required but we would like this position to rotate to interested staff who have not served previously.  This assignment requires monthly attendance to a two hour meeting, typically and attendance at the AAG Retreat which will be on July 3rd this year.

If you are interested please let me (macrumpt@uncg.edu) know by June 23rd and a selection will be made from the group of those of you interested.

New case for Book Press materials

If you've been down the second floor north hallway, you'll notice a new feature, well its not new new but used new, its a case to house type and tools for the book press.  The bookcases have been moved along the side wall and the idea is to enhance the space with some photos and related paraphernalia.

Monday's Meeting Agenda

Below is the agenda for the All Personnel Meeting on Monday morning.  We will be meeting in the Reading Room so we can be more cozy and will have the donuts set up by 9:45.  We will pull our chairs from around the building but feel free to bring your own if that makes you more comfortable.
